Peninsula Involved In Food And In Tourism
To A Food Tourism Information Evening
Food tourism is a growing market segment internationally and many tourist destinations are developing this sector as a means of gaining competitive advantage.
As part of the work in developing food destinations, Fáilte Ireland has recognised Dingle as a leading food tourism destination and has begun working with representatives from the food and tourism sector in Dingle - The Dingle Food Destination Group. This group recognise the importance of local food in their offering to the visitor and have been working diligently on ways to improve the visitor experience.
A key part of food tourism is ensuring the best of local peninsula produce is available in all possible outlets. With this is mind a Food Tourism information evening is planned on Tuesday 15th November from 5-7pm in The Skelligs Hotel, Dingle.
Fáilte Ireland and The Dingle Food Destination Group are inviting all food producers, food retail outlets, B&B, Guesthouse and Hotel establishments, together with Pubs, Café’s, and Restaurant owners, to find out for themselves the benefits food tourism can bring to their business. On the evening:
• Local Food producers on the Peninsula are invited to
showcase their produce
• Food Outlets (B&B’s, Guesthouse’s, Hotels, Pubs, Café’s, and Restaurants) will have the opportunity to see the vast array of produce that is being produced on the peninsula and meet with the producers
• The Dingle Food Destination Group will outline the work carried out so far and set out the next steps for implementing the Dingle Food Tourism Strategy.
• Fáilte Ireland will outline the National Food Tourism Implementation Framework
• There will an open Q&A session where any ideas for furthering the initiative will be welcomed and discussed
Fáilte Ireland’s and the Dingle Food Destination group’s vision is that the Dingle Peninsula should be recognised for the quality and value of our local food experiences, which bring with them a unique sense of Irish culture and hospitality. This in turn should add to the attractiveness of the Dingle Peninsula and thus increasing visitor numbers.
Admission is free and all involved in food and in tourism are welcome to attend. Should you require any further information please contact Niamh Uí Shé – This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it / 087 9386860
