K-Fest, a community-based music and arts festival, will be staged in Killorglin, over the June Bank Holiday weekend starting on Friday 31st May until June 3rd.   This is one of a number of events planned in the town as part of The Gathering.

It will showcase the incredible work of over 40 local, national and international artists, at 18 locations throughout the town, these will be held in various buildings which are currently vacant.  The organisers are very grateful to the owners who are allowing the Artists to have “Pop Up” Galleries in their premises for the weekend and to all the Artists who are participating.  This is a great example of Community Co-operation.   The weekend will also include live performances highlighting different disciplines such as video, sound art, sculpture, print, paint, ceramics, textiles and craft.

The Dingle Food Festival will be 7 years old this coming October. With cookery demonstrations, workshops, markets, live music and the now infamous taste trail, the festival is a favourite for those living near and far. A big thank you to you all for your support which helps us grow the festival year on year.

To continue and build on this success the festival is looking for anyone who has an interest in food, wine or the Dingle Peninsula to join in the fun and help grow this exciting festival.

The festival is a 100% non profit, voluntary committee, that generously donates their time and energy.

No stranger to Dingle, Cat Dowling dropped into the Dingle record shop with musician Gerry Horan to play a few songs.
Her new album ‘The Believer’ was released on May 10th last , the album  is a collection of beautifully crafted and treasured songs, which will envelop your head without you even noticing. It is an eclectic offering of low-key beats coloured with layers of sonic delights and a voice, both hushed and passionate, that will punch you in the gut.
Inspirational...Catherine Dowling’s austere murmurings are hypnotic ..Irish Times

A new paperback edition of The House on an Irish Hillside, Felicity Hayes-McCoy's book about dividing her life and work between London and the Dingle Peninsula was launched recently in Le Pont de La Tour, London. Praised by actress and style icon Joanna Lumley as "Wise, funny, touching and blazingly beautiful", the book's garnered glowing reviews since it was published last year, from critics, fellow writers such as Frank McGuinness, and from Mary Kennedy on RTÉ's Nationwide, who called it "a lovely read".  'From the moment I crossed the Conor Pass at the age of seventeen,' says the author, 'I fell in love with Corca Dhuibhne - the place, the people, and the way of life here. I was born in Dublin and took the emigrant boat to England in my twenties. But I always knew I'd come back to Corca Dhuibhne, and that I wanted to find a home back west of Dingle. It was a dream that took more than thirty years to fulfill. And now I'm living it.'
Join Felicity Hayes-McCoy, local traditional musician Máire Begley Ó Sé and friends in Dingle’s famous Café Bookshop, An Café Liteartha, Dykegate Lane, at 2.00pm, Saturday June 1st, for a relaxed fusion of trad and classical music and readings by the author from The House on an Irish Hillside. Signed copies of the new edition will be available for purchase. Fáilte roimh cách.

Obair chruaidh le déanamh chun prátaí a bheith ullamh
don Spud-Off Mór

Má chuir tú prátaí síl timpeall deireadh mhí Feabhra, faoi mar a mholamar in alt san WKL deireanach, tá gais le feiscint díreach os cionn talún anois.   Cé nach raibh an aimsir oiriúnach chun prátaí a fhás sa tréimhse ó shin - bhí sé an-fhuar agus an-tirim, le gaoth láidir anoir/aduaidh – bhí roinnt fás le déanaí.

De ghnáth tógann sé céad lá d’aimsir mhaith chun go mbeadh prátaí luatha ullamh le baint.  Dá bhárr an droch-fhás go dtí seo, tabharfaidh sé seachtain no 10 lá eile

Fodder Progress Update Statement: The Fodder Transport Subsidy Scheme had played an important role in contributing to the efforts of recent weeks, with the transport costs of sizable quantities of fodder being significantly offset by Department of Agriculture Food & the Marine contribution. The Department have contributed to the cost of importation of approximately 2,000 loads of imported fodder, or 30,000 tonne.  The Scheme itself will end next Friday, 24 May, but as an exceptional measure, any definite purchases that have been placed by that date, but not delivered will be included under the Scheme.  Those wishing to avail of this option would have to submit documentary and financial evidence to the Department, by close of business this coming Friday, 24 May.  If the Department is satisfied with the documentation submitted, it will grant approval to cover that fodder under the Scheme provided it is delivered during the following week. As with all fodder included under this Scheme, only fodder sold to individual farmers is eligible for the transport subsidy.
